Model A Speedster Builds
Model A Ford speedsters formed an important part of the early development of our business and remain a key example of our engineering and restoration expertise.
These builds combine traditional craftsmanship with detailed mechanical knowledge, transforming original Ford Model A chassis into lightweight, performance-focused vintage vehicles inspired by early racing machines.
Over the years we have completed a number of distinct speedster builds, including both woodtail and aluminium boattailed designs, each tailored to achieve the desired balance of performance, authenticity, and character.
The Concept
At the heart of each build is the sourcing of original rolling chassis and engines — typically unrestored and often neglected — from the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States.
Rather than restoring complete cars, we focus on chassis and mechanical components, allowing each project to be rebuilt and reimagined as a purpose-built speedster. This approach ensures that vehicles which might otherwise be overlooked are given a new life while retaining their historic engineering character.
The Build
Each chassis is completely stripped and rebuilt from the ground up. Mechanical components are restored, reconditioned, and carefully upgraded to improve reliability and performance, while maintaining the external appearance of the original engine and drivetrain.
Bodywork is designed and fabricated in-house using period-correct techniques. We produce both aluminium-bodied speedsters and traditional woodtail designs, each crafted to suit the intended use of the vehicle.
Engineering Highlights
• Complete ground-up restoration of Model A rolling chassis
• Engine and drivetrain rebuilding with performance upgrades
• In-house fabrication of aluminium and woodtail bodywork
• Bespoke builds tailored to client requirements
• Vehicles designed for racing, touring, and historic motoring events
We typically have completed vehicles available, but also undertake fully bespoke builds to order.
Lead times vary depending on specification and demand.
